On 22nd September, Konica Minolta Digital Services R&D welcomed partners and clients in the Rome Co-Creation space: a place to meet and co-develop new artificial intelligence solutions and products. The Open Day has seen the participation of more than 35 prospects which will be soon working on new pilots and use cases with Konica Minolta’s researchers.

The continuous evolution of Konica Minolta

Taking the lead from Osaka Innovation Garden in Japan, and in anticipation of its 150th anniversary, Konica Minolta continues to innovate and find new ways to bring value to society using physical locations and remote services. Konica Minolta’s co-creation spaces are a stepping-stone for building new ways to collaborate and engage with partners and clients. With a focus on emerging technologies such as Imaging AI, IoT, and hybrid edge to cloud computing, Konica Minolta brings to life services specifically for customer engagement to deepen relationships and trust, earn revenue from pilots and create long-term partnerships. The space in Rome, which follow the Prague site launched earlier this year, is powered by Konica Minolta Digital Services R&D, the European research and development department of Konica Minolta.

In this space our customers and partners will be able to see what we are developing in our labs, meet our researchers, engage with them and shape new ideas. Underlying the concepts of co-creation and co-innovation is the idea that different companies can share space, resources and expertise to bring new solutions and business opportunities to life.

Customer centric at the heart

The invitees had the chance to walk around the brand-new space to meet Konica Minolta’s experts and to experience as an exclusive preview some pre-commercial demos of Video Solutions Services (VSS), Cognitive Services and other innovative solutions which contribute to Konica Minolta Innovation ecosystem.

AI Studio: a Konica Minolta tool to decrease costs of Artificial Intelligence

Konica Minolta Digital Services R&D has been working for years on new AI solutions that help automate work tasks and improve efficiency and security levels in digital manufacturing, document management and in intelligent and connected workplaces.

Dennis Curry

Deputy CTO of Konica Minolta Digital Services R&D

Our specialty lies in applying AI algorithms to solve specific problems for our customers, providing them with customised system. And the VSS package include the AI Studio tool. With which anyone, even someone with no skills in coding, can build a Machine Learning solution for automated inspection for manufacturing and warehouse sites.

The space

Konica Minolta's co-creation site is a modern and welcoming space where people can meet, work together and network. It is an 800 sqm top floor with a 360-degree perimeter terrace.

Located inside are: two reception areas to welcome guests; a laboratory dedicated to Konica Minolta's research and development team; two spaces dedicated to guests and clients with meeting rooms, meeting tables, and numerous stations for working in collaboration with others; a kitchen and a relaxation area with an executive area with a suite meeting room.

"In a world shaped by pandemic, we wanted to create safe, calm spaces for people to meet face to face, but not crammed into some tiny meeting room.  Here we have plenty of space to conduct workshops at relatively small scale which complements the auditorium approach which has developed over the past decades.  And, of course, we can take a hybrid approach, mixing physical and virtual ways of working" concludes Dennis Curry.

Our Co-Creation process: book a visit and meet our experts

During the evening, more than 35 prospects took part in the lab tour to preview some of the exclusive solutions powered by Konica Minolta Digital Services R&D's for Video Analytics, Information and Document Management, Environmental and Sustainable Services, Cybersecurity and our portal for APIs and microservices.

The Rome Co-Creation Open Day enables Konica Minolta to launch a network of partners and clients which are going to meet again with developers and experts from the different European laboratories. After the initial sharing of details about technological solutions, the Co-Creation process will continue to identify new use cases and business applications in those contexts which are more relevant for partners, with a focus which ranges from digital manufacturing, logistics and retails, to document and information management, cognitive services and IT security or sustainability services. Follow up meetings have already been booked by many of the participants, and for those who have not reserved a one-to-one meeting, an
online form is available
